KITTEN SAFE HOUSE

Our team
We Are Here Because of Our Love for Cats
Kitten Safe House is made up of shelter staff, foster carers, and volunteers – united by a common goal: that every animal has a safe and happy life.
Our daily work includes cleaning and caring for cats, trips to the vet, trapping cats, and a wide range of other tasks – from paperwork to construction. It’s not always easy, but the feeling of having helped makes every effort worthwhile.
And when we sit down with a coffee at the end of the day, with a cat in our lap, we know we’re exactly where we’re meant to be. :)
Take a look at who we are – if you feel inspired by what we do, get in touch and become part of our story.
Important Information for Volunteers:
Volunteer work takes place in the mornings, usually between 8:30 AM and 12:00 PM.
The work includes cleaning and maintaining the hygiene of the areas where the cats are housed.
Depending on the volunteer's availability and preferences, the role may also include helping with various events, in agreement with the shelter coordinator and team members.
Volunteers don't necessarily have the time; they just have the heart!

Shelter manager
Evelin
She’s the brain behind the shelter: managing the paperwork, organizing the work, and translating Danijela’s “thoughts” into a language we all understand. Her job is always supported by feline assistants and large doses of caffeine.
She brings much-needed order to the shelter, and with her, every little paw has a chance at a better life.

Shelter member
Lea
Young and always ready to jump in - whether it’s cleaning or driving cats to the vet. She helps with daily tasks and cares for every cat as if they were her own.
A vital young force without whom everything would be much harder!

Volunteer
Matea
She keeps the shelter clean and tidy because she knows cats love their space to be as perfect as a fairy tale. She adores cats and sometimes even reads them books - because who says only humans enjoy a good story?
A perfect blend of meticulousness and love for paws, without whom the shelter wouldn’t be the same.

Volunteer
Ana
Ana is there whenever we organize something.
No questions asked, no “I can’t” — she’s just there: to help, hold, bring, stay longer if needed. With the cats, she’s gentle, calm, and warm — and that’s exactly why they adore her.
She’s not someone who seeks praise, but we know she absolutely deserves it. :)

Volunteer
Marina
She’s the “brainchild” behind the website that tells our cats’ stories and the first to jump in when it’s time to clean the storage room.
Whenever events are organized (especially the ones involving little helpers!), she’s there too, ready to show everyone why our cats are so special.

Shelter member
Danijela
When a cat needs treatment at three in the morning, everyone knows who gets up. She’s the one who cares for all the cats as if they were her little miracles and often pulls all-nighters (her secret energy source? Nutella!). She drives, heals, cuddles, and rescues - anytime, anywhere.
The cats love her, and we admire her dedication and her (still!) intact sanity.

Foster carer
Nataša
Out in the field, she traps cats for sterilization, and when the shelter is full, she takes them under her wing - a true cat hero saving every paw, even those already “prebooked.”
One of the shelter’s behind-the-scenes heroines, whose hard work shines through in every life saved.

Volunteer
Dora
When the "bosses" are away, she takes matters into her own paws and runs the shelter like a true feline general! She knows every cat by name (and by those special markings no one else notices), and she hands out treatments faster than the cats can say "meow."

Volunteers
Jurica i Zoja
Photography is an art — but taking photos while a cat is perched on your head… well, that’s their specialty. :)
We love them because they love our cats, because their photography brings our events to life, and because they make those unique moments truly unforgettable!
