Blacky survived a life of darkness, hunger, and uncertainty. Because of that, he does not greet people with purrs today, but with hissing and growling. It is his way of saying that he is afraid.

He is very vocal, and there is also a possibility that he is hard of hearing or completely deaf. A world he cannot hear properly may often take him by surprise and make him feel even more insecure.

Even so, Blacky is already showing that there is a way to reach him. He absolutely loves lickable treats and will dare to come closer for them. That small step may not seem like much to some people, but for a cat who has learned that closeness means danger, it is a major victory.

He needs someone who will not take his hissing personally. Someone who will approach him slowly, take care not to startle him, and allow him to decide how much distance he needs.

Blacky may not yet know how to ask for affection. For now, he simply warns the world loudly that he does not feel safe. The right home could show him, for the first time, that he no longer has any reason to defend himself.
